The Rossmoor Writers Group has been part of the Rossmoor community for over 30 years.
It was started by Mary Webb who taught writing classes in East Bay community colleges.
When Mary was in college she found her instructor to be overly critical and harsh. She noticed her fellow students became discouraged, dropping out or giving up writing after taking the class.
The experience promoted her to develop what she called the Three-Stage Method to critique writing.
The method encourages active listening, positive feedback and helpful, constructive criticism. It fosters sharing and trust.
Mary passed in 2021, but her legacy lives on through the Rossmoor Writers Group and the Three-Stage Method.
